在整个五四时期,鲁迅的思想表现得十分矛盾:他“听将令”参与思想启蒙运动,但又对启蒙的效果颇感怀疑;他应邀为《新青年》杂志撰稿,但又与《新青年》同人保持着距离;他揭穿了儒家礼教的“吃人”本质,但又积极参加教育部组织的“祭孔”活动。1922年《新青年》阵营“风流云散”后,鲁迅重新陷入了思想消沉,“兄弟失和”与“女师大风潮”使他在大部分时间里都陷入了生命的黑暗时刻,不仅情感步入了“冰谷”,思想也变得“彷徨于无地”。然而,鲁迅仍然独自坚毅远行,以“托尼学说,魏晋文章”作为武器,毫无顾忌地“偏与黑暗捣乱”。这种因“无地彷徨”而“反抗绝望”的思想人格,不仅使鲁迅成为中国现代思想文化界的一面旗帜,也使他变成中国现代精英知识分子追求光明与自由的精神偶像。
Abstract：Throughout the May 4th Movement period, Lu Xun's thoughts appeared rather contradictory: He “obeyed the command” to participate in the ideological enlightenment movement, yet he was quite skeptical about the effects of the enlightenment. He was invited to contribute to the magazineNew Youth, but he kept a distance from his colleagues atNew Youth. He exposed the “ man-eating” nature of the Confucian ethical code, yet he actively participated in the “ Confucius Memorial Ceremony” organized by the Ministry of Education. After theNew Youthcamp “broke up” in 1922, Lu Xun once again fell into ideological depression. The “ rift between brothers ” and the “ student strike at Beijing Women's Normal University” plunged him into the darkest moments of his life for the most part. Not only did his emotions reach an “icy valley”,but his thoughts also became “wandering aimlessly”. However, Lu Xun still trudged resolutely alone, taking “the doctrines of Tolstoy and Nietzsche, and the essays of the Wei and Jin dynasties” as his weapons, and “deliberately making trouble with the darkness” without any scruples. This ideological and personal trait of “resisting despair” due to “aimless wandering” not only made Lu Xun a banner in the Chinese modern ideological and cultural arena, but also turned him into a spiritual idol for Chinese modern elite intellectuals in their pursuit of light and freedom.
